He was killed in a car crash on Sunday, September 13th.  Fred was an avid runner and had just completed the difficult Wasatch Front 100 Mile Endurance Run in Utah on Saturday 9/12/15.  He completed the run with the fastest recorded time for his age group.  Fred was en route from Utah to Sacramento when he was involved in a fatal automobile accident on Interstate 80.  See the following article from Trail Runner Magazine.
