It is with a heavy heart that we inform you of the passing of Fred Brooks, President of the Sacramento Area Section of CWEA. He was killed in a car crash on Sunday, September 13th. Fred was an avid runner and had just completed the difficult Wasatch Front 100 Mile Endurance Run in Utah on Saturday 9/12/15. He completed the run with the fastest recorded time for his age group. Fred was en route from Utah to Sacramento when he was involved in a fatal automobile accident on Interstate 80. See the following article from Trail Runner Magazine.
Stepping up to fill a vacancy in a time of need, Fred served as Vice President before becoming President of the Sacramento Area Section. He was on the Planning Committee for the CWEA Northern Regional Training Conference in 2014 and 2015. Fred was a passionate member of CWEA. See the photos he took as he set up the new CWEA Sacramento Area Section website http://sac.cwea.org/. CWEA’s President Phil Scott as well as other CWEA leaders have donated along with CWEA as an association to the GoFundMe account that has been set up for his son Ben. https://www.gofundme.com/6u4ce8kp
His quick wit and commitment will truly be missed. Memorial service and donation information for Fred’s 12 years old son, Ben, is below.
