All CWEA Local Section Leaders, State Committee Leaders & Members, Conference Committees, CWEA Board Members and CWEA Past Presidents, Current and Prospective CWEA Volunteers: Register online for CWEA’s workshop: “Leadership through 21st Century Learning – Exploring CWEA’s Learning System”
Part of learning is examining provocative questions. Part of leadership is having the courage to examine those questions. Please join us as we ask ourselves if CWEA’s current learning system is up to the task of helping California’s water environment professionals meet the challenges utilities face today and the challenges they’ll face in the future. Help CWEA fulfill our mission of educating water environment professionals in the 21st Century. Help craft CWEA’s learning system to help our members meet the demands of the 21st Century workplace. Develop your leadership and critical-thinking skills along the journey.
We invite and encourage CWEA volunteer and prospective volunteers who are committed to CWEA’s mission to educate water environment professionals to attend. CWEA education organizers and leaders from sections, conferences, and committees are particularly welcome. If you love to learn and teach others we need your ideas and input.
If you attended Leadership 2013 and you’re thinking this is a repeat — it’s not. The 2014 focus will be CWEA’s learning system – mapping the way CWEA identifies what education to deliver, on what issues/topics, for whom, by whom, and how at all levels of the organization. We’ll map out our learning system and look at what works well about it and what could be improved to meet 21st Century demands. Our learning system is at the heart of our mission.
The workshop will be led by Jeff Hurt, Executive Vice President, Education and Engagement with Velvet Chainsaw, a consulting firm CWEA is using to increase our effectiveness in the way we educate water environment professionals in the 21st Century. And, we will have a “visual illustrator.” That’s an interactive artist developing graphical notes from our discussions and workshops so that attendees have visual resources to review and reflect upon even after the workshop concludes. Here are the dates and locations:
- Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2014, 9.30 am – 3 pm – Boy Scouts Council, 1001 Davis Street, San Leandro
- Thursday, Nov. 6, 2014, 9.30 am – 3 pm – Orange County Sanitation District, 10844 Ellis Ave., Fountain Valley
