Thank you for the award I received from the 2012 Kirt Brooks Memorial Water Environment Scholarship. Your generosity and your support in continuing my studies are sincerely appreciated. My education is important to me and I appreciate that you are willing to offer financial assistance during these hard economic times.
My education is important to me because after I graduate, I will be able to work in the water environment field where I will strive to provide safe drinking water and protect local aquatic habitats.
To accomplish my goals I am enrolled as an undergraduate at California State University, San Bernardino where I will obtain a Bachelor of Science in Biology. In addition I have recently completed a one year internship at Victor Valley Wastewater Reclamation Authority, and am preparing to take the Grade 1 Laboratory Analyst certification exam through California Water Environment Association. This certification will prepare me to analyze water or wastewater samples and detect harmful biota being discharged into our streams, rivers and lakes.
During my off- time, I volunteer for the City of Hesperia Adopt-A-Street program and pick up garbage to ensure clean drinking water and preserve the aesthetic beauty of the High Desert. As a student at California State University – Santa Barbara , I will use the Kirt Brooks Memorial Water Environment Scholarship award to pay for tuition fees, books and certifications.
Thank you again for the generosity and support I have received from the California Water Environment Association.
With tuition increases and budget cuts the award could not have come at a better time. In addition, I would like to thank CWEA for its professionalism, hard work and dedication. My life has been inspired by the Kirt Brooks Memorial Water Scholarship and the CWEA staff. I look forward to completing my education and providing clean water to California communities.
