Mark Lucas, CWEA Member Obituary

Mark Lucas passed away recently after a short illness.  Mark has been the lead Electrical and Instrument technician for Vallejo Sanitation and Flood Control District since 2010 and worked for the City of Escondido and Del Mar Fairgrounds prior to working for the District.  Mark was very active with the Redwood Empire Section as the Chairperson of the O&M committee and helping with other Section events.  He was also very active at the District having been on the Safety and Awards banquet committees and also volunteering as a guide for school tours throughout the year.  Mark leaves behind his girlfriend Roxanne Frisby, 3 children Shana, Andrew and Anthony, his mother Laura and step-father Dave and 4 brothers and sisters, Travis, Melissa, Sabrina and Andrea.  Mark enjoyed fly fishing, camping, cooking and was a pretty good bocce player.  Mark’s passing was very sudden and has left a huge void at the District where many considered Mark a great friend.  The family has suggested that people should donate blood to their local American Red Cross.  A memorial service will happen sometime in March in Southern California.  The District will also have a memorial banquet on 2/23 at 12pm to celebrate Mark.

Our thoughts are with Mark’s family. Please share your condolences in the comment section below.

Mark my friend, you will be greatly missed. Mark and I had a lot of good times at many CWEA events. Mark was not only a colleague, but a friend as well as part of my extended family. One thing I will always hold in my heart, was the fact that Mark always found a way to smile no matter the circumstance. He had a way of calm that made others around him feel calm and relaxed and most of all, happy. It is with the deepest regret and sorrow, that I am writing these words. Mark, you will be so missed.

I worked with Mark here at V.S.F.C.D and served with him as the Redwood Empire Collection Systems Chairperson. Mark’s passing has left a void here at the District. He was well liked and a valued member of our work family here. He will truly be missed for a long time by those of us who worked with him and knew him. Mark was a true gentle man and a leader. I hope that his family finds peace and comfort in knowing there are others who will miss him as well.

Today was our celebration of Mark. It was great to hear all the great stories of how he touched many of us at work. I definitely went through a few tissues but will shed more tears when other memories jump into my head. Mark was a great friend and coworker. The constant theme was his positive attitude and friendly smile. I will definitely miss his ability to mentor his coworkers and the support he provided me at work and personally.

I enjoyed working with Mark both at the District and in several CWEA state and RES events. I will miss his smile and eagerness to always help his fellow human both in his professional and personal life.

He had a giving heart that will be hard for anyone to follow up! We will have a void where he sat at the table always. May the Lord find favor in you and may you Rest In Peace dear friend.

  6. Mark was a joy to work with, fun, and a great story teller as well as listener. He was wonderful with the students on the school tours, and earned an Employee of the Quarter award for handling a situation with a sick student so beautifully. He and Roxanne also regularly drove a truck during Coastal Cleanup Day, visiting sites and helping out whenever needed. His warm smile and generous heart will be deeply missed.
