Private Activity Bond Legislation on Track for Introduction in Congress

From Water and Wastewater Equipment Manufacturers Association (WWEMA)…

Senators Mike Crapo (D-ID) and Bob Menendez (R-NJ), along with Representatives Bill Pascrell (D-NJ) and Tom Reed (R-NY), are preparing to introduce bi-partisan legislation to lift state volume caps on tax-exempt private activity bonds for water and wastewater projects, just as soon as House Ways and Means Committee Chair Dave Camp (R-MI) releases a comprehensive tax reform bill, expected in the next two weeks. The four sponsors had agreed to delay introducing any tax-related legislation until Camp completed work on his committee’s tax reform bill. This legislation is expected to generate between $2 – $5 billion annually in bond financing for the water/wastewater sector.
