As announced earlier this year, the State Water Resources Control Board (State Water Board) has funding available in 1 percent loans – approximately half the already low current interest rate – for water recycling projects that can be completed within three years of Governor Brown’s January 17, 2014 Drought Proclamation.
Water recycling is the use of treated municipal wastewater for beneficial purposes, such as agricultural and landscape irrigation, industrial processes, and replenishing ground water basins. Eligible projects include recycled water treatment, distribution and storage facilities.
The funding is available for municipalities through the State Water Board’s Division of Financial Assistance, Clean Water State Revolving Fund (CWSRF) program. Applications for this extremely low-interest financing are accepted continuously, but must be submitted by December 2, 2015.
