Transparency Certificate of Excellence Awarded to West County Wastewater District

The West County Wastewater District has received the District Transparency Certificate of Excellence by the Special District Leadership Foundation (SDLF) in recognition of its outstanding efforts to promote transparency and good governance.

“This award is a testament to West County Wastewater District’s commitment to open government,” said Edward H. McCormick, Interim General Manager “The entire district staff is to be commended for their contributions that empower the public with information and facilitate engagement and oversight.” To receive the award, a special district must demonstrate the completion of essential governance transparency requirements, including conducting ethics training for all board members, properly conducting open and public meetings, and filing financial transactions and compensation reports to the State Controller in a timely manner.

The West County Wastewater District provides sewage collection, treatment and disposal services for the City of San Pablo, all of the northern subdivisions of Richmond, portions of the City of Pinole, communities of El Sobrante, East Richmond Heights, all of Tara Hills, Rollingwood and Bayview, and portions of the unincorporated County.

It is the mission of the West County Wastewater District to protect public health and San Francisco Bay by providing our communities with wastewater collection and treatment for reuse or safe return to the environment in a responsible, efficient and reliable manner.
