This Regional Occupational Program is a career education program and partners with Regional wastewater treatment facilities for career development. This course of instruction teaches wastewater treatment in the traditional classroom and develops specific operational skills with on-the-job training at local treatment plants. During the nine-month program, students attend class each week, complete homework, and complete internship of approximately 12 hours per week.
Graduates are equipped for employment as a Wastewater Operator and related trades and are prepared to take certification exams administered by the State Water Resources Control Board. Students complete CSU, Sacramento Wastewater Treatment, Volume 1 and Volume 2.
Many individuals are able to obtain financial assistance through their County Workforce Investment Board (WIB) or Private Industry Council (PIC).
