WEF Seeks Volunteers for new Operator Training Manual – Advanced Treatment

The Water Environment Federation’s Technical Practice Committee is looking for individuals willing to serve as authors for the first edition of an operator training manual titled Wastewater Treatment Fundamentals III – Advanced Treatment. This publication is the third in the Wastewater Treatment Fundamentals series. The proposed outline for the publication follows:

  • Chapter 1      Industrial Wastes and Pretreatment
  • Chapter 2      Physical–Chemical Treatment
  • Chapter 3      Membranes
  • Chapter 4      Activated Sludge (Advanced)
  • Chapter 5      Ion Exchange
  • Chapter 6      Nontraditional Disinfection Methods
  • Chapter 7      Water Reuse/Aquifer Recharge/Groundwater Recharge
  • Chapter 8      Management of Solids
  • Chapter 9      Characterization and Sampling of Sludges
  • Chapter 10    Instrumentation

Authors will be responsible for preparing detailed chapter outlines according to the proposed audience, purpose, and scope of the publication. Authors will also be responsible for preparing chapters for the publication, including learning objectives, graphics, tables, chapter summary, references, and quiz and exam questions, and addressing or incorporating all technical review comments received. Authors must follow the publication development process outlined in the Technical Practice Committee Procedures Manual and meet all deadlines to ensure that the publication is developed on a 20-month schedule.
